Laurel Highlands Workforce & Opportunity Center-Celebrating Success & Expanding Opportunities

Patrick R. Wallace |

We are thrilled to celebrate the graduation of 10 Clinical Medical Assistant students on February 22, 2025, all of whom successfully passed their NHA Certification! This achievement would not have been possible without the generous support of many of you along with a number of foundations, the LHWOC staff, our board members, and collaborative organizations.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also look ahead to the future. Clinical Medical Assistant-Cohort 5 began on January 13, 2025, with 12 students, and we are excited to welcome our first cohort for the new Patient Services Associate program starting on June 23, 2025.

At the Laurel Highlands Workforce & Opportunity Center (LHWOC), our mission is to remove barriers for individuals who are underemployed, unemployed, or transitioning back into the workforce. We achieve this by offering tuition-free programs designed to provide high-quality job training in months, not years—allowing students to enter the workforce faster with the skills and confidence needed for lifelong careers. Our programs are developed in direct collaboration with Westmoreland County employers to ensure our graduates are job-ready from day one.

Beyond covering tuition, we provide essential supplies, including books, scrubs, medical equipment, and even computers for student use. We also offer comprehensive support services such as childcare, clothing, counseling, and transportation to help students succeed both in and out of the classroom.

As our programs continue to grow, we remain committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and the community.

Thank you for your ongoing support!
